Mccalla(tusc co side) vs northport
Thank you for the information in helping us make a more informed decision along with our relocation specialist while transferring to UA. I will be visiting soon but still in the "research" mode.
QUESTIONS:
WHAT ARE THE MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS IN EAST TUSCALOOSA COUNTY NAMED IF LIVING IN MCCALLA (TUSC CO SIDE). WHAT IS THE REPUTATION OF THESE SCHOOLS AND FEEL FOR THE AREA?
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN LLOYD MIDDLE AND ECHOLS MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND DIFFERENCES IN NORTHRIDGE HS AND TUSCALOOSA CO HIGH SCHOOL? WHICH IS BETTER OR WORSE....PLEASE DISCUSS WHAT YOU HAVE HEARD OR YOU PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THESE PLACES.
WHAT ABOUT HILLCREST?
We are currently in a system with 92% white...8% other with above average test scores. Teachers are helpful and supportive of parental support and participation. Both of my children are excellent students and work hard to achieve this status. This is a huge "flight" for my children and we really want them to have a "safe landing".
I would appreciate any and all leads to help us make a stellar decision.

Ask your relocation specialist to do reports for the questions above you just asked - That is a part of what they do. If you would like to do your own resurch, look here ----> ALSDE - Education Directory/Reports

Have you read your posts? Really read them?
You throw a 92% white school and above average scores, that you understand that the public school system is subpar and you are looking for neighborhoods in the 200-250k for academics. Headscratch!
I do not know where you are moving from, what (besides a great job) made you move and why it is a problem to move kids during the school year. Alabama has a racially mixed population and schools reflect this in students and teachers. Not just black and white. And most of them live and work together just fine. Of course there is always an ignorant fool across the board of race/gender/race who has to make a ruckus. As far as I am familiar with the local academic population - there is no restricted living area but they roam freely. 200-250k will restrict you a bit in Tuscaloosa.
Please consider that behind each nick on a public forum there is a person with feelings, issues and opinions and here also with more or less local insight. All of us share gladly and here have gone out of our ways to make phone calls, follow-ups and even met with people relocation to help them. Not getting responses to your questions should have made you think.
One of your best sources of local information and gossip are community bankers in Tuscaloosa.

I consider your comments to be insulting and rather biased yourself. How dare you write in this manner and then accuse me of informing others what my situation is .

Look sweetie....we have very VERY few folks on here from Tuscaloosa...I've only seen two or three, maybe, who have posted, and evidently they haven't visited the board in months.
I'm sorry, but there is nobody here right now who can answer your questions.
