Default Considering moving to Huntville

Hello,

I am seriously considering moving to Huntsville from California. I'm a native born Texas Country girl and can't stand it here a moment longer. I have a good chance of transfer with my company.

I have been looking at properties for sale on line and much to my dismay, there are none listed with at least 5 acres of land to go with it. Guess I've really had it with living on a postage stamp in the middle of a rat cage for far too long and need some room. Can anyone give me a suggestion of what area near Hunstville (easy commute) where I can buy land, and have horses again? Don't care about shopping, entertainment etc. Good schools are important. In dire need of quiet, no traffic, no crowds and no lines to stand in.

Hello stnpride1
I live in Arab, Al. a small town 16 miles south of Huntsville. A large part of Arab works and commutes back and forth from Hunstville to either the Redstone Arsenal or to Research park, where a large portion of the US Government Missle Defence Systems are born and operated, Redstone is also home of the Marshall Space Flight Center and the NASA Space Shuttle program. Although there is plenty new homes as well as very affordable pre-owned homes, Huntsville is receiving close to 6000 families over the next 3 to 5 years due to BRAC ( Base Realignment and Closure Commity ). Most of these Government employees and contractors are comming from Arlington VA. The most wonderful thing about Huntsville is the surrounding communities. Places such as Hazlegreen, Newmarket, Madison, Lacysprings, Morgan City and Arab all have very affordable homes with acerage, the most common being between 3 to 5 acers. This is some of the most beautiful country you will ever see. Huntsville is surrounded by picturous Mountains including Brindlee Mountain where Morgan City and Arab are located. I can asure you there is more to see and do in a 30 mile radius than anywhere in the country. The people here are so neighbor friendly, I never here of anyone wanting to be anywhere else. Check out Arab Chamber . org. for a great deal of information on our town.
