Anyone living in the Dothan area
Hello - I thought I would try this and see if anyone is living around the Dothan area? we are liveing out in Slocomb (10 mile from the circle) and we do not have a neighborhood or neighbors so to speak where you could meet new friends. We like to go out danceing and have to go to Daleville VFW for that. Wife works PT in Dothan, we are both 64 and moved here last July from SWFL.

We live in Dothan, but are moving in a month. I will tell you that we have a wine club that meets once a month with a group of really nice people, ages mixed from young 20s to 70s. (We are a pretty eclectic group.) If you like to dance, check with the cultural arts center. They have a dance club that has classes and meets for dances. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions or would like more info.

Hello, just new to this website. I saw that you are moving and I am in real estate and wondering if you need help in selling your house?

Funny - I post to this forum to see if maybe we can meet anyone from the Dothan area and I get one that is moving and one that wants to sell the house and I know there are more on here that read this board. Interesting to say the least!

Considering relocating to Dothan
I've just been offered a job at Ft. Rucker and am considering it. I've spent the last 20 years living and working in Europe. From what I've read Dothan sounds like a good place to live. How difficult will it be to find a rental home in a safe neighborhood that will not kill my budget? I've seen homes renting for $1500. I can't afford that. Should I find a place with a storm shelter? Any advice would be helpful.

Why throw good money away? Why rent "BUY"
Storm Shelter? "What's that" - right now I would welcome a storm.....
Dothan is good, growing, if you like to eat then it is for you, if you are looking to party, forget it, unless you are into Sports Bars, there is NOTHING for people our age to do here in Dothan, I posted this thread in hope of maybe meeting some folks, and by the way it is going, it is like everything else around here, it's not going to happen.
Being that you are considering a job at Ft Rucker maybe the Daleville/Enterprise area might be better suited and closer for your needs?

To be honest with you, I feel that Dothan doesnt have much to offer to anyone unless you know someone in politics. I have been here 15 years too long and wish that I can move. There really isn't much to do in Dothan and especially for the younger generation. That is why my children are bored 90% of the time when they are out of school.

That is why I posted this to see if there were any other, but you are right their is just not anything going on in Dothan, we like to go out and dance and just no place to go that we have found. I posted this to maybe met others, but don't seem to be working, just like everything else, open to suggestions!

Dothan is great if you are between the ages of 0-12 and 55-99. Lots to do for kids and older folks. Not much if you are in between.
