And this ladies and gentleman is why Alabama is so backwards.

It's not because it's a "civil right" or anything. it's just that I do not need a man telling me that I can not go and have a little fun gambling.

And are some of you seriously that dense about the issue? A lot of people have lost their jobs because of this bs gambling task force, several of them were people I know.

Alabama hasn't learned the last time Riley was reelected and still hasn't done so in the recent election.

Guess I'm just another backwards redneck Alabamian.
I don't think this task force was the way to do it. Its unfortunate that a large industry had grown up in a legal and historically unenforced gray area, and thus that jobs in a very job-deprived region depended on gambling.
But that wasn't the argument stated.
It was stated that that other people don't have the right to tell you to gamble, which seems to place in the category of some civil or human right the government has no right to take away from you. As far as social justice and individual liberties go, I personally place gambling rights pretty low on my list.
I'm personally not strongly against gambling. I just think people should put their efforts into other economic development than gambling.
