Brands of cheap beer with pictures of different wild animals on their cans, ie: Schmidt, Buckhorn, and Rheinlander.

What is the nearest town to Sportsman's Cove Lodge? Does the lodge have a road to it? A friend of mine is working there this summer. I was thinking about going to visit before he leaves at the end of September.

Stay the hell outta Hydaburg....there isn't a reason in the world to go there....besides you won't be welcome there if ya know what I mean.

POW isn't near as bad as Rainy makes it sound like...

Iam guessing your job would take you to the new clinic in Klawock...?

Commuting into Klawock from other locations on the island is very easy as the road system on POW is far above average for Alaska...

Winters are mild at POW...unlike your other option which is nasty.

2 very good property guys...Doc Waterman & Dick Erickson

Hi Rainy...! hows Skagway...?

Thanks for all the information. I glad to hear from someone that it is not that bad. I have visited Ft. Yukon - the job offer is up in the air, so I have to keep my options open. I have a telephone interview coming up soon for POW - so who knows what will come from it. Is is possible to find housing on POW for less than 250,000... like far less... more like 100,000 with running water, sewer and heat? I'm up for an adventure, but for year-round living, I have my needs. Thanks for the names... I might be looking them up if all goes well.

Why would you go all the way up there to visit Ft Yukon and not also visit POW...?

Another very important thing to concider....what does each location have to offer you and your family in your time off.

On POW those options are totally unlimited from one end of the island to the other, not to mention easy trips over to Ketchikan.

After this opens click to make it full-size and scan around...

Got any questions...?

Quote from Alaska.com

" The winters in Fort Yukon, population about 600, are long and harsh and the summers are short but warm."

-50 to -60 in the winters...how much of that do you want ?

About the opposite of POW...

Another thing to concider....ever plan to have family come to visit or travel back "outside" from Fort Yukon...thats gonna be very costly compaired to POW.

Tongass National Forest - National Geographic Magazine

Have you raised a family there, Alaskan454? Do you live there year round or are you one of the summer residents?
