(still seeya in AK Lyoness)

One of the safest places in the world is the ALASKA BUSH.

Sqiters? wear long sleaves and a cowboy hat and spray all sleeves and back and skin and brim of your hat and YOUR DONE.

The city dangers? Hard to avoid really--

I think that a city person that wants be in the real Alaska should go out with a sourdough or guide (that isnt busy at the time) and learn the ropes , see the hazards and get a butwoopin workin. Thats the fasttrack and cost ya a grand or 2, worth it and then get into the good stuff quicker without fear.

If you dont have an attitude and love TRUTH the above folks will take you in. It works. Lifes short , 100 years from now how much gratification you experienced in life will be meaningless vanity nothing , so what can One really do? , but build character and LOVE-- ALASKA BUSHLIFE experience is good medicine.

We all have the gift, its 'how do we reach it' .

Oh, but you know, it's legal in Vermont to cross double yellow lines, but most of our roads here are too crummy to even drive the speed limit on in spots.
Having lived in AK & VT..... I can tell you MA, NY & CT drivers have nothing on Alaskans. They are over the top crazy.

You'll see.

I haven't seen any really bad driving here yet (nothing remarkable compared to other places anyways - stupid pedestrians are the bigger hazard around town) Maybe it's different in Anchorage, I don't know. My guy, who grew up in Valdez and complains about Alaska drivers - especially in ANC, was shocked at the insanity on the roads in Tampa. They come up with stupid stuff down there that I'd have never thought of in a million years.

There is a reason they call it the last frontier.... Everything is dangerous up here unless you know what to do..... mosquitoes are big up here but not that bad.... Even hiking to an old city bus can be a life or death situation.

I have to amend this to say that tourists can be real hazards on the road. They'll go 40 on the highway in their motorhomes, run across the road on foot near blind curves trying to get 10 feet closer to the waterfall they're taking pictures of, and stop right in front of you in the middle of the street whenever they feel like it. Basically, many of them act as if the world revolves around them and this isn't a real place with real people who live here and need to get to work. When do they go home? By the end of September at least, right?

Earthquakes, floods, extreme cold, falling through a lake or river ice, bears, moose, and other wild animals last.
