Haven't got a clue about the housing situation on Kodiak. Nice place though.

I chose kodiak out of basic, are they still training in Alemeada CA sp?it the year was 1983 and such a long time ago, but it was most awsome for me, loved every minute of it, coast guard life was great, only spent 3months Tad on the old 180 ft ironwood Buoy tender probably decommissioned !! as for now cost of living is the highest in the state from what i here, but would go right now if job and housing were waiting for me,fishing the buskin was great, and then there was the river right by the airport lots of "reds" "silvers" and steelhead allthough at the time the steelhead were protected, I hooked one that had to have gone over fifty lbs, was fishing for early red salmon, but none had made it that far up river yet so was fishing for last years lures and philipino flies (I needed a snap swivel) when i casted way up stream so I could get my yellow spoon with red diamonds on the bottom to snag those lures left by last years fishermen when it hit like a rocket nearly jerking the rod from my hand, gave it line cause had no snap swivel but when it saw me
it ran while trying to reel up some slack and it broke my line. it jumped several more times trying to shake my spoon but never seen that fish again. well got off subject there just alittle sorry, not much snow lots of rain, big bears lots of salmon and "baldies" egals that is there were qutie a few bald coasties awaiting retirement as well. met a ton of nice people. wonder if the beachcomber is still the hoping bar it allways was ?? there was a large part of the island that wasnt accessable by motor vehicle at the time, even a small population of elk on near by raspberry or afognak island, am suffering from crs
sorry, well better close as there might be a post lentgh I need to stay within,
I loved it!!!!!!

There's apartments for rent in town and then there are people who rent out basement apartments as well, you should'nt have any trouble finding a place to live. Just make sur to make res. for the guest house on base well before you get here .
