hey, fellow Barrowers, I may be about to inherit a mutt from a kid who can't take it with her--I have always thought that it would be a pain to have to walk a dog in the cold and wind and have resisted various attempts to get me to take on a canine friend, though I always had dogs in Fairbanks.
What is it like to have a dog in Barrow? Is it miserable taking care of it, or does the companionship make up for the inconvenience?
she is smallish medium--pound says a corgi-german shepard dog mix probably--small enough to be a good house dog though big enough that my son in law skijors with her
Now I don't live in Barrow but have lived in places where bears and coyotes would snatch small to mid size animals from peoples back yard. I think you would be fine with the dog in Barrow but I just wouldn't leave the dog in the backyard by itself for long stretches of time.
