Prince of Whales Island, lots of food , you won't starve there, but it does rain a lot there, that is the only reason I didn't buy there. Beautiful place and there is the town of Craig there

The children have no food, Metlakatla. The children are going hungry. So are their parents and elders. Why?

Where did you end up at? Last I remember you were looking all over the state. Did you end up in western Alaska?

My theory is that the malnutrition issues stem from a few different things.
Alcohol is one. I can't tell you how often parents would chose to buy a bootleg bottle of R&R instead of food.
Another is the cost to buy food. It ain't cheap. If you don't have the means to get things online (credit card and internet), you are forced to spend your money in the local store.
Lack of affordable fresh produce.
And dare I say it, lack of jobs that pay living wages.

Thanks and sorry for my English

We own 10 acres south of McCarthy. There isn't a lot of private land available and being within the largest National Park in the United States, it tends to be more expensive than land like that otherwise would be. It's beautiful but a hard place to live. Most people are seasonal - end of May through mid September - and make money off the summer tourists. There are a few who stick it out all year but not very many.
