There’s a guy who’s hiking in the woods one day when a bear chases him up a really tall tree. The bear started to climb the tree, so the guy climbed up higher. Then, the bear climbed down and went away. So the guy starts to climb down the tree. Suddenly, the bear returns, and this time he’s brought an even bigger bear with him. The two bears climb up the tree, the bigger bear going higher than the first. But the guy climbed even higher still, so the bears couldn’t reach him. Eventually, the bears went away.

Naturally quite relieved, the guy starts down the tree again. Suddenly, the two bears return. But this time the guy knew he was in big trouble. Each bear was carrying a BEAVER. lol

That person cannot be much of a friend if he run faster than U. A true friend would sacrifice himself to save the other.

Easy, pull out the 454 Casull or 50AE handgun you are packing and drop the bear. Or for you more whacky folks, pull out your 45-70 revolver and take care of it.

Actually, bears have been clocked at 35mph! You can't outrun a bear unless safety is just a few feet away and the bear is very far away.

Running triggers the predator/prey response. If a bear sees you running, it will most likely think you are something tasty to eat and will pursue you even if it's not hungry. In my 16 years in Alaska, it's amazing how many unfortunate bear encounters have involved joggers or people frightened by the bear and running away.

Default a true friend

In bear country, a true friend it your trusty 12 gauge pump loaded with 2 3/4 or 3" magnum slugs.

However, since you can't always count on your friends being there, carry a big can of pepper spray as well. What did you think that leg pocket on your Carhartts is for if it ain't for bearspray?

He is referring to a bears inability to run at a decline. Their legs simply aren't built for it and they have been known to trip or just lose their balance. Of course, you can't always expect a hill to be conveniently in front of you, lol.
