We've been cloudy in the mid-60's here most of the day after 3-4 inches of rain last night.
Fall is indeed in the air here as well. The trees need to start changing color though.

This salmon season though has us all beat to crap here--summer just didn't happen here and the salmon didn't come in.

I'm looking forward to seeing Mt Hood out an airplane window, sweet corn, sun and warmth, watching the mists move in the mountains.
Met That reminds me for some reason. We're thinking about buying a place in Silverton, for such time as we need a "WE GOTTA GET THE F**K OUT OF HERE FOR AWHILE" place.

I think we're gonna head up to Fairbanks and CHS over Labor Day weekend. Naturally the forecast is calling for rain.

Well, if that was your experience, then as I said - I'm sorry for you. Best wishes for a more productive future.

The seafood business is always a gamble; some years are better than others and some are decidedly worse. But we're still standing.

Do it! Silverton is fantastic, one of the best places in the state.

As far as rain goes it's pouring to beat f-all here and blowing maybe 40 knots.

"It's the Latitude, stupid!!!!"... no joke, I'm living at the same Latitude as Seattle (around 48° N), and the weather is already crappy enough up there, so I can't imagine how it can be around 60° N, however gorgeous Alaska may be..."gorgeous country" and "fit for humans" are 2 different things in my book! the big flat plains of Nebraska/Iowa (Corn Belt) are ugly enough, but they feed the Nation...

You can keep that Midwestern corn belt stuff. I'd rather move back to the South than live there. Better to have a place that's beautiful when it is nice out than a place where you're bored to tears no matter what the weather's doing.

48N, would you be in North Dakota by chance? I thought it was more wheat than corn that far north.
I'm 1/2 hour from the Iowa border and personally like watching the corn grow
It sure did cool off in a hurry here. Windy as h*ll.

Hey, October can be nice here. My Mom and I spent an entire October a few years back touring the state and had a great time. Even Barrow wasn't that bad.
