FAIRBANKS, Alaska - U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski has decided to run as a write-in candidate in the November election, according to an e-mail from a campaign supporter. And a Murkowski cousin, Mary Gore, wrote on her Facebook page today that Murkowski will announce her continued candidacy in Anchorage this afternoon.

“...My cousin will announce at 5:00 today that she will run as a write-in candidate for US Senate,” Gore wrote. “If you live in Anchorage, come join the party at the Dena’ina Center.

“Come be a part of history and learn how to spell her last name correctly for the ballot!”

Mercowski. Murcowsky. Murkosski. Murcawsky. Murrkosski. Murkoski. Mercowsky. Murowski. Murkosski. Murowski. Merkosky.

Forget it. Miller is easier. GO JOE!

She is either delusional and thinks she can win, or she is just spiteful and wants to sabotage Miller with a split vote. I suspect the spite. That's what happens to 'career politicians'. They forget that the seat doesn't actually belong to them.

Heh. Well it's a huge hill to climb. In order to win a write in campaign she has to have extremely energized supporters. Most of those already voted in the primary. General election voters are not nearly as excited. It will be a lot easier to fill in the oval rather than write in Murkowski and then fill in the oval.

My prediction is that Miller will win, Mukowski will be second and McAdams will come in third. The big difference between McAdams and Murkowski is that McAdams will still have a political future after the election.

She'll probably just split any liberal leaning voters, giving the conservative Republican an easier time.

As long as Miller doesn't win, I'll be happy! This announcement brings hope.

Still waiting for "change and hope"?

My first choice is Murkowski, but it seems unlikely of that happening. Alaska receives the most money per person from the Federal Government thanks mostly to Ted Stevens. We are still going to pay the same amount in Federal taxes, whether we get $0.01 per person or $2.00 per person from the Federal Government, so why refuse it? Why cut our education budget, health budget, infrastructure budget etc, when it won't make any difference in the amount of taxes we pay to the Feds. It's like becoming a vegetarian because you don't want animals to be killed for your consumption. It doesn't matter whether you stop eating meat, the truth is there are billions of other people who will take your place and in this case 49 other states who will accept the money Miller refuses from the Feds. The only people who miss out are ALASKANS!

Does this make sense?

Alaska receives a lot of money from the Federal Government because most of Alaska is owned by the Federal Government. Also, the days of pork are coming to an end, simply because the US is at the brink of an economic collapse. The money the Federal Government gives to Alaska-and the rest-is running dry because it's the private sector's money, and private-sector jobs are getting scarcer by the minute.
