Oh, it sure is a strip. And yes, I'd say that it IS more non-Alaska then even Anchorage. I am always on the look out for someplace else... but work comes first.

It's because Wasilla is full of the trash from the -48.

My goodness, Pat, whatever brought this on?

I can't say that any of the recent transplants who post here seem like "trash" to me....and they certainly aren't responsible for that mess along the Parks.

You've lived there how long now? Have you seen a lot of changes?

Actually the trash to me seem to be the redneck couples with 10 children who never in their life set foot outside of Alaska. There are a lot of nice people in Wasilla. The majority of the people who are nice that I've met have moved from the -48s. Whether they moved 40 years ago or 1 year ago it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if they were born here and then moved out-of-state or overseas for a few years and came back. The ignorant hill billies that I dislike in this town are the people who were born here, lived here their entire life, and never had any interest to even take a vacation outside the state.

Shocking. I wonder if Pat falls into this category

Pat, you probably remember Wasilla before it had any of that stuff along the Parks, right? Just a Carrs or something. It was nice back then I thought.

A tiny flicker of curiosity about the rest of the world, perhaps?

I've got to agree with BMW there to a point. The people I've liked least up here have been those who were born here and just seem to have stayed out of inertia or lack of gumption or whatever it is that keeps them in a place they don't even seem to enjoy living in. I'm sure there are plenty of people from the Lower 48 who moved up here for reasons that weren't well thought out, but most of the people I've met who came from somewhere else are good folks who have other options but choose to live here because they love it (of course that could be because the weather down here chases off the ones that don't).

You know I don't fall into that category as I wasnt born in Alaska, have one child, and travel quite often.

Many transplants are nice but more and more many look and act like trash. BTW what category do you fit into?
