I think most everyone with any common sense would agree that a person who flunks the bar exam 4 times, is a dunce. At the very minimum, it is true that she is in the bottom 20% of lawyers in her legal skill. And, isn't that what is supposed to qualify her (or fails to qualify her) for the position, other than nepotism? I mean, she has no other skill does she?

Her biggest problem is that she's a Republican. Republicans have shown themselves to be WITHOUT ANSWERS. Their party is now synonymous with bigotry, warmongering, inability to balance a budget or effectively run an economy. Their preference for deregulation leads to food and product recalls, historically bad oil spills, predatory lending practices, mortgage crisis, and Wall street abuse. They scream about taxes and try to put the lid on them while cutting programs for the elderly, poor, and disabled. Bigotry flourishes on their watch because they pretend racism no longer exists while practicing it. Republicans are divisive and narrow-minded. They favor H-1B visas so that the profit margin can be increased while qualified americans are shunned. They are against illegal immigration, yet nothing happens on their watch because they privately rely on the cheap labor illegal immigrants provide. Republicans have given us the most pathetic group of political figures in history: Dan Quayle comes to mind. More recently, Sarah Palin absolutely pathetic. Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, and so forth. Quite a shame.
What are you talking about? Republicans have no answers? I am not a Republican (I am independent), but at least in Alaska both the Republicans and the Democrats have no answers, and this includes Lisa. The bar exam is not a big deal, but for her to do all she can to hold on to her seat in Congress does not make her any different than the other Republicans who have glued their behinds to their seats in Congress, and have become career politicians. The Democrats do exactly the same thing. No difference Look around: look at the locals assembly members, both Democrat and Republicans, and notice how worthless they are. It's the same in relation to national politics. They are corrupt to the core. While in Alaska more Republicans than Democrats get caught with their hand in the cookie jar, perhaps because Republicans dominate AK politics, it's a big mess from both sides in the rest of the nation.

The Democrats in Congress have had a lot more opportunities to straighten everything you have talked about. The Democrats have had control of Congress a lot more years than the Republicans (around five decades), plus the last two years.

This article by Friedman is something I'm in complete agreement with. And I believe a third party will happen. It needs to happen.

Oh, come on Floyd!

Regardless of how you perceive Palin to be, she has done a lot better than all of us in this forum

Yes, but the problem is that a third party would become just as corrupt as the ones we have now in a short period of time. The best idea is a grassroots group like the Tea Party, as long as they can succeed kicking all the incumbents (from both sides) out of office. Term limits would work, but the people who can create such a law are the ones who oppose it.

Hillary Clinton flunked it. JFK, Jr flunked it. Pete Wilson flunked it. Jerry Brown flunked it. A small list of more mentally defective people by your definition.

How many different colleges did the You Betcha Dingbat attend before finally getting her degree in one of the toughest majors out there: Journalism.

FOUR. Maybe FIVE.
Maybe they are all as dumb as a door knob?

Depends on your definition of "better"!

From my perspective she has never done very well at all. But I'm not much impressed by excesses of money or political "power".

Actually, most people would be unqualified to decide if she were a "dunce" or not, since most people wouldn't even be able to get to first year status at Willamette Law School. And I suppose it could also be argued that even the bottom of the graduating class of a school of that caliber equals or exceeds the top of a class at lesser institutions as far as legal skills go.

I'm still wondering how a Yale graduate ended up slinging divorces.

You Miller lackies must really view her write in campaign as a threat, but I'd say that she's not the real threat here....your boy's house of cards has already begun to tumble of his own volition.

The more likely option, however, is that it's you, not them.

Hmmm. Education was a lot tougher back then. Nowadays learning how to place a condom over a cucumber is a lot more important than the sciences, and bar exams. Around 50% of the HS graduates who attend UAF have to take remedial training. A few are quite smart (several work with me during the summer), but the rest are just dummies when it comes to the sciences, and law enforcement.
