My husband and I are considering a relocation to Alaska, preferably Juneau...or even perhaps Anchorage with our two children. Whats involved in such a relocation? I mean he has 7 years of experience as a tow truck driver here in California and would like to get a job up there in that area of service. Would he be able to get another good paying job that his experience driving and such would benefit him?

I am interested in advice and ideas on how to go about such a relocation. Thanks!

Well you might start looking at the classifieds in the local papers.

adn.com | Alaska News, Jobs, Cars, Homes, Rentals, Classifieds and more for Anchorage.

JuneauEmpire.com: The Online Voice of Alaska's Capital City for Juneau.

Alaska Job Center Network may have something.

Juneau, Alaska--Personnel Department may have something.

As far as relocating...maybe someone else can help. I guess look for a place to live and try to find a job. If you have funds it might be best to come here and do that. If not...it may be harder to locate housing and find work.

Sorry to drag this back to life, but I was looking through old threads to find links for a post and found this...

If you're still here, please explain your reasoning. Juneau is the most beautiful city in the world and I am offended by your un-based criticisms. It is inappropriate to go around bashing places without giving any reasons.

Sincerely,
A Very Peeved Xa'at

He's got Talkeetna as his/her location. Maybe he/she had a bad experience in Juneau in the past?

There are as many different types of people as there are different locations to call home. It's not that rare of an occasion to meet anyone that likes every Alaskan town they have lived in. I've lived in Wrangell/Petersburg area for a year and loved the southeast. Working outside all year. I've lived from Homer to Anchorage from time to time, been through darn near any port along the chain including Kodiak and all of Bristoll Bay...and have spent just about half my life on the slope. After this last road trip throughout the state and what I took note of...I have yet to come across one I did not like. Every town is different...most of the people are different as well. And thats a good thing. You just have to find the one you like best and try to carve out a place of your own there. Juneau is as good a place to start as any.
