First of all if you like Wal-Mart, McDonalds, theaters, or malls it is a $450.00 airplane ride to Anchorage. If you can live with out all that it is a wonderful place to live, providing you like the outdoors. Housing starts at $1100 + utilities for a small decent house, gas is $4.95, milk is $7.00 and fresh fruit and vegitables in the winter are frozen. The Hospital is the main employer for year round work but there are several seasonal jobs. It will be total culture shock for your kids, if you do not live in a remote area now.
