Seriously, people, this is a dumb way to discuss an issue. When a person asks a question to clarify a point, it's reasonable to answer the question, not try to strawman your way into some sort of "zinger".

But that's political discourse today - everyone's ears shut and mouth open.

Yes, it did. It was about that very subject and the lyrics contained something about "bodies falling on the floor".

Sarah Palin being real life is news to me. She's a realty television performer.

That's quiet true

When this case goes to court, it will be quite interesting to see how the "blame misplacing" takes effect.

Most likely it'll never go to court.

Why do I have the feeling that the recent letter to the editor published by Salon which advocated the murder of Palin would be quite acceptable to those here who cry the loudest about her crosshairs?

Would it be OK to release a map showing gunsights over all of the Palins' houses?
Can you tell the difference between a gunsight and a target?

At some point you realize that it's an exercise in futility to engage in public discourse with someone that is, well, basically clueless.

I see the music as being the theme song of his life, which can help reinforce the tone set by the reality of politicians out there who are everywhere ranting about gun and violence-filled metaphors. We expect more of our "leaders" than we do our fantasy outlets of tv, movies and music.

You've almost hit the nail on the head. The tragedy in Arizona has nothing to do with Palin, crosshairs or gunsites. It has to do with people going "postal" as you would say. They've been doing this for a long time. It's nothing new.

Patrick Sherrill - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Patrick Henry Sherrill (November 13, 1941 – August 20, 1986) was a United States Postal Service employee who, on August 20, 1986, in Edmond, Oklahoma, killed 14 employees with two .45 caliber pistols at his work place before turning one of the guns on himself and committing suicide. Six other employees were wounded. Security expert Gavin de Becker said that postal authorities ignored numerous signs of Sherrill's unstable and hostile attitude.

The incident is credited with inspiring the American phrase "going postal".
