Hi,

I know this is not a travel forum but I want to know a few things.

I would be a visitor to your fantastic state for a few days in march.
I am planning my visit and need some help.

Am planning to fly to Anchorage from CA and head to fairbanks.
Are there any intrastate buses?I checked the railroad but thats mostly open only in summer?

Is march a good time to see aurora borealis?

Thanks in advance
Cheers,
DL

I do believe that the train runs in winter...but its not the tourist train. Its just one or two passenger cars.

You might see the northern lights in March from Fairbanks. Head out to Chena Hot Springs east of Fairbanks and spend a night. Usually pretty good views from there.

You could ride the train or drive.

These forums are for anyone with a question or even comment about the specific subject/area, doesn't matter if you are visiting, moving or w/e.

March is a wonderful time in Fairbanks. We have our light back to a more normal balance, the tempratures are more mild, yet we still have snow enough for dog sledding and dark enough for aurora viewing. March is my favorite month here.
