Arctic Thai 5146 Herman St, Browerville, AK. 907-852-5719.
Browers Restaurant PO Box 310, Barrow, AK. 907-852-3456. Occupies the most historic building in town, the 19th-century whaling station and store built by Charles Brower, who introduced 'Yankee' whaling techniques to the Iñupiat and sired one of its most illustrious families. The restaurant serves a long menu of American and Korean dishes. Big windows look out on the beach and a famous whalebone arch is just outside.
Northern Lights Restaurant 5122 Herman St, Browerville, AK. 907-852-3300. Has a very comfortable, clean dining room and is operated by a charming family. Their menu goes on and on, with the owner's own Chinese food, plus deli selections and burgers, and great pizza.
Orties Filipino Fast Food Barrow, AK. 907-852-5721.
Pepe's North of the Border 1204 Agvik St, Barrow, AK. 907-852-8200. The most famous place in town thanks to an appearance owner Fran Tate made with Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show some 20 years ago. They serve large portions of familiar American-style Mexican food, steak, and seafood. The bus tours come here for lunch and Tate hands out souvenirs. Be sure to sign up for their Christmas card list, they'll send you a unique card and gift.
Sam and Lee's Chinese Restaurant
Shogun Teriyaki House 1906 Pakpuk St, Barrow, AK. 907-852-2276.
Stuaqpak Food Court AC Value Center (shopping center/general store) deli.
From the pictures i have seen of Barrow it looks quite nice. (Like Provincetown Mass (Cape cod) sort of (Not really any fast food places there either))
Two places have a buffet for lunch on weekdays, where the time to be served is how fast you can load your plate. In addition there is one Deli that serves only fast food, all pre-cooked, but they put it on the plate.
Arctic Pizza has a complete menu of fine food. It also has a second story view of the Arctic Ocean that is very nice, and looks out over the ancient site of sod houses from 800 years ago.
Rate Arctic Pizza as fives stars on a Barrow scale.

I've only been there one time, and it was a long time ago. It's a small place with a limited menu and limited hours of operation, but if Thai food is of interest this is an interesting place.
Rate Arctic Thai as three stars.

It isn't true, or even close, that Charles Brower introduced Yankee whaling to the Inupiat people. Boston whalers had been coming to the Arctic Ocean for decades before Brower came to Barrow. Brower did exactly the opposite, he introduced Inupiat whaling the the Yankees! He was the first non-Inupiat to engage in shore based whaling. The others initially dismissed his efforts, but he demonstrated relatively quickly that it was more profitable.
Regardless of that, the building and monument are extremely interesting. The restaurant is more expensive than most others, but the food is acceptable. It is most certainly worth at least one visit for a tourist.
Rate Brower's Cafe as four stars.

That description is an understatement! The menu also includes a few Korean dishes (and if you know what to ask for they will cook almost any Korean dish on request). Eating at Northern Lights is a pleasure.
Rate Northern Lights as five stars.

I can't comment on this one as I've never been there and have never heard anyone describe it.
I can't rate Orties, but probably two stars would be right.
Osaka is convenient. It is kitty corner from the Top Of The World Hotel. They do serve Japanese dishes, though the menu is a bit sparse overall. It is a very small place, and sometimes is an adventure.
Rate Osaka as three stars.

It's true about Fran being on Carson's show, but that isn't really what made it famous. It helped though! She's done a lot of things that get noticed. One is a relationship with a radio station in Chicago, another is her serious interest in jazz music. Besides, Fran is just a lot of fun!
The restaurant is one of the "main stream" places in Barrow. It is co-located with the Top Of The World Hotel, and you can expect to be hugely entertained by the decor and well satisfied by the menu and service.
Rate Pepe's as five stars.

Sam and Lee's Chinese Restaurant
Sam and Lee's is more special than all of the others. It is clearly Barrow's favorite place to eat. The largest menu, the best food, the lowest prices, and the longest hours (they are open from 6 AM until 2 AM the next day, and deliver to go orders starting at 11 AM until they close). They also have a great Chinese food buffet for lunch on weekdays.
Plus it has an atmosphere that Barrow people like (and not all visitors do).
Rate Sam & Lee's at five stars plus, it's the must do place if you have time for only one meal in Barrow.

This is another "special" place. The elderly couple who run it are just very very nice people. She is a bit strange... it can be an adventure. They make a great buffet for lunch. It's mostly Chinese food plus hamburgers and basic American food.
Rate Teriyaki as four stars.

The Food Court is nothing but fast food. It is all pre-cooked and available as fast as it can be put into a bag or on a plate. Not perhaps anything to be excited about, but it is hot and it is fast. They close relatively early in the evening.

Didn't you say sometime back that you had some ownership in Sam & Lee's, you might want to mention that when you rate them with five stars.

I'm not privy to your imagination, so there is no reason I'd mention some figment of it when I rate restaurants.
Why don't you stick to facts?
One fact you'll notice rather easily here is how all of the people who actually do live in Barrow prefer Sam & Lee's. That's a bit more than five stars in most books.
(By the way, when you edit quotes please do not make it appear that people say things they didn't. The last paragraph you quoted from my article is about Teriyaki House, not Sam & Lee's. You spliced it in as if I was suggesting that applied to the people who own Sam & Lee's, which is very dishonest of you.)
I don't know what the food is like now but Sam & Lee's used to be the nastiest place in Barrow. We thought they built it next door to the police station for one reason. We'd probably pull 4 or 5 drunks out of there every single day.
At sam & lees - they use those frozen standard patties that when cooked the edges are hard.
Vito's use fresh meat - not patties
When Vito's first opened Arctic Pizza had to come way down on their original prices' as Vito's was bigger and the quality is unsurpassed !! & of course cheaper.
IN fact: Vito's used to in the past- OWN ARCTIC PIZZA !!!
