Wow Rance, you could probably get some really good star trail photos out your way.

The Auroras were active for about an hour this morning (around 3:00AM. Mar. 12).

From this morning at 3:00 AM by Chena Lakes. The lights at the left is from North Pole or Fairbanks (don't know), and the light in the center below the Auroras is the moon:

Beautiful photos! Really wish we had that kind of activity down here in Anchorage!

The Auroras forecast for next week (Saturday) is for "active." This photo and others I have posted before have been from nights with similar forecasts (moderate to active).

It should be just as good in Anchorage. All depends on the degree of Auroral activity for the night. Also, you may have to drive to high ground near Anchorage, and spend several hours out there. If the moon is full, then this may be a problem. But on dark nights it should be easy to see the Auroras as long as these are from moderate to active.

For example, take a look at the forecast for Saturday the 26th (next week). In this case, if you have the time you could drive to perhaps Cantwell (or just past Denali Park) and stop along the road on any high spot there. But they should still be visible in Anchorage, too.
