Tonight 03/02/2011? Yes, it's around 1:30 AM and the Auroras were very bright earlier around 10:00 PM (yesterday, I guess). Took around 30 photos until three busses loaded with Japanese tourists arrived. Cameras, flashes, and people everywhere

A lot of people don't realize that you have to take long exposures, not just to pop a photo with the flash.

Were they really active? When I looked out around 9:30 or so, it was just the standard barely moving arc of green across the northeastern sky. Seems like I keep missing the good stuff...

Saw several good displays almost directly overhead here in Anchorage (probably about 10:30 - 11). Haven't seen anything that active for quite a while here. Hopefully this is a preview of what's coming over the next few years as Solar activity picks back up again.

The short term forecast is still ACTIVE, so maybe we'll see something again tonight.

They were out in force yesterday morning, at about 4:30am as I was heading to work. There was a swirl that made me turn a 360 just to see it all.

Yeah, I could have ran back into the house, grab the camera and tripod, but, I would have been late for work. I really wish I would have looked out earlier, then I would have gotten some shots.

Great, now every time I see the Aurora I'll be thinking of the Exorcist.
