I have a vehicle that I am looking at getting transported up here, and was wondering if anyone here is going to be driving the ALCAN from the lower 48? I would be willing to pay for their lodging, and gas on the way up here if they would be willing to tow a trailer with my vehicle on it. :-) Just trying to find a way that won't cost me $3,000 to get it up here. I live in Fairbanks, but would be willing to drive to Anchorage, Kenai, Tok, etc. to pick it up.

Thanks in advance!

Interesting....

You don't have time to drive it up?
Where is it at?
What kind of a car is it?

It's a lifted 1978 Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser. Right now it is located in Las Vegas, but I could gte it shipped pretty much anywhere in the western US. I, unfortuntely have a DUI on my record, so driving through Canada is a nogo for me. Issue being finding a friend that can get the time off to drive it up here. I figured if someone was coming anyway and had a vehicle that would pull it, it would be a win win situation.

Probably wouldn't be looking until late May-early July. My schedule is pretty flexible for it. ESPECIALLY if it saves me a couple grand. :-)

The way gas is rising down here it'll probably cost you at least that in gas to have it driven up.

The problem is that the vehicle is over 7' tall, so anyone I try to get it shipped through has to ship it as "Cargo" rather than as a vehicle, and they charge by the foot. Lowest price I can find so far is around $3,000 to get it shipped up here. Even at 10mpg and $4 a gallon, that would be enough to get from Las Vegas, to Fairbanks, and back. :-/ I figured if someone was making the trip anyway with a vehicle big enough, It could save them gas and lodging and the pig could just have a tow bar installed.
