Don't want to hotlink because you're apparently not supposed to on this forum, but is this map accurate? If so... we're in for a lot of damage.

EDIT: Aw for great justice... the site keeps adding url tags I don't want. I'm hotlinking it. If the mods don't like it they can change it.
Yeah, I posted the map a few days ago but it was found to be a hoax.

U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin is in the Bay Area touring a peninsula hospital. NBC Bay Area reporter Damian Trujillo asked her about the run on tablets and Dr. Benjamin said although she wasn't aware of people stocking up, she did not think that would be an overreaction. She said it was right to be prepared.
What do you all make of this?

I think she is a genius. I would encourage everyone in the Bay Area to immediately start ingesting massive quantities of Potassium Iodide.

Just look at the short term side effects before you take such a pill. More than likely you don't need to take any unless you live in the neighborhood that houses the nuclear plants in Japan. The long term effects aren't known much, except that some people after WWII may have developed heart malfunctions.

Plenty of people both here & in Europe are stocking up on KIO3. The place I ordered mine from has a month long back order.

Many people feel that potassium iodine should be a prescription. please check with your doctor about taking it should you choose to do so. some people should not take it especially those with shellfish allergies...talk with your doc.

The Drudge Report is certainly doing all it can to scare the bejeebers out of an already skittish America.

This isn't volcanic dust for god's sake. Most radiation will have dispersed (due to weather patterns) well before it gets to this country. I'll bet many many people have no idea what the effects of too much radiation even are. Probably think they're going to grow a few extra limbs or something, or an extra head will begin growing out of the side of their neck.

DO NOT listen to CNN, MSNBC, FOX, or any other US media outlet. If you want the skinny on what's going on, then tune in to The Onion News Network. Its far more realistic & accurate than any of your cable news programs.

CNN and MSNBC are getting excited as well. they are banging this drum hard.... it's difficult to decipher what is actually going on in Japan. NY Times talking about the 50 left in the plant like they are spartans. seriously courageous.
