Sourdough trailer - Movie Trailers - Video Detective

Everyone wants to be a sourdough these days, alas...
i have it on VHS somewhere. it really is quite good- just an old dude who lives how he wants, treats the land well, treats his dogs well, treats his neighbors well, and gets really pissed off at the world encroaching on his personal paradise. there is some very legit stuff going on, and you can tell the actor (if you want to call him that) walks the walk. you even see him build the raft he uses to run that river (in the trailer). the narrator of the movie is a lot better than the one in the trailer (he doesn't sound like a caricature).

If we're going to turn this into a "best-of" list, I have to throw in "The Simpson's Movie" as an honorable mention. That's my Alaska.

Back when I first saw "Insomnia" I thought for sure that the town of Nightmute was a made-up name. Until a co-worker of mine in Oregon suggested without knowing that maybe it wasn't made up. I was so embarrassed because I thought it was just another annoying lower 48 attempt to come up with something Alaskan. It made me realize just how very little I knew about my home state and I have vowed to change that.

to be fair, the actual town of nightmute is nothing like the setting of the movie...

Was Insomnia a good flick? I heard it got decent reviews but until now I never realized it was even partially set in Alaska!

It wasn't bad IMO, but it was another that was set in Alaska but not filmed here (I think). Same as that recent Sandra Bullock movie that was supposed to be in Sitka, but was actuall filmed somwhere back east - Maine IIRC.

You're right, I looked at the pictures that were linked to in the Alaskan town photo thread, completely different.
