Collective bargaining rights would be restricted for many Alaska public employees under a bill introduced by a state lawmaker. Republican state Rep. Carl Gatto (GAH'-toe) of Palmer says his bill mimics one passed recently in Wisconsin.

They're stripping the rights of the American worker everywhere and we're just sitting back and LETTING them. It's only going to get worse if we don't get the Repubs out of office.

Public versus private workers. Major difference. One is a public servant intended to serve the interests of the people and the other works for an employer driven by the quest for profit.

And, so by serving the interests of the people the public worker should be stripped of all their rights? I think not. Most public employees don't receive enough pay and benefits anyway. Collective bargaining helps ensure workers are compensated fairly and have safe working conditions.

It's a privilege to work for the people not a right and not an entitlement.

We already do. Fee simple ownership of real estate originated in feudalism. The lord has been replaced by the state. Feudalism lives on. But this is a bit off topic...

i'm just picturing a future where people will be so desperate for work that jobs will essentially go to whoever is willing to work for the least amount of money.

the middle class was fun while it lasted.
