Talkeetna or Ester. Homer's a close third. Juneau's about half and half.

Juneau, maybe? But you won't find many places like that in Alaska, since we like guns, hunting, trapping, firewood and lumber, and recycling is too expensive and a waste of time. Besides, Alaska is pretty much independent and conservative, not hippie and liberal.

Well Ray this almost hippy and very liberal likes hunting, fishing, trapping, firewood and lumber and all manner of "do it my own darn self" projects, pretty sure they aren't political characteristics. ;-)

Homer, Talkeetna, maybe someplace in the SE.

Anchorage does have some liberal pockets.

Avoid Fairbanks and the Valley given your preferences.

The Talkeetna Bachelor Society has paid for the VW bus, which Dean says will be built of recycled plastic wood; the Talkeetna PTA has paid for wood tiles to be painted by children and used to adorn various structural elements within the playground, Larson said.

"It's just part of Talkeetna's hippie culture, I guess - a lot of granola crunchers around here," said playground project volunteer Karey Larson.

I'm a "greenie" and progressive liberal, is there a problem with that? Greenies live in the BUSH, weenies live in the city.
