The hospital is just about next door to the Jail. In between the two is a old children's receiving home and a juvenile jail. There is a line of one bedroom houses next door to the jail.

I might be selling my older Cannondale, not sure yet. It's a 14.5 inch frame, all aluminum, a rigid frame. It's a SM 800 Beast of the East.

Warpt, you're a hell of a great ambassador for Bethel. You really do make it sound like such a great place to live, and I bet it is. My ONLY problem with moving to bush villages would be that I would want to have my car, which would be a bit complicated and a bit expensive. Still, the idea of traveling by Polaris in -35˚F is not particularly appealing, so a car would be great to have.

Also, you and I seem to have extremely similar preferences in weather, judging by your above post and other posts of yours.

EDIT: I knew Bethel was big, but I never realized how big it is until Warpt posted that picture up there. Man, that's a big village.

It's up to around 6,000 people here, yes, a big village.

Pay no attention to Sity, he has never been here. One can't live on carvings alone.

Here is the hospital housing area.

Housing to the left, the state jail, and then the hospital.

Jail to the left of the photo, the housing is right behind it. This is the hospital to the right.

My fiancee's TDY contract did not get extended here in Barrow so she took an offered contract in Bethel. The travel company offered me more money and some other perks so between that and not wanting to be separated from my fiancee for 13 weeks or more I decided to take the offer with her travel company. So now I'm headed there to be with her in just a few days. I still love Barrow and hope to return one day.
