That's just what I've heard. I have never lived in a fishing town, or worked as one. I do watch Deadliest Catch, though.....you might try Metlakatla's advice and try to work at a fish plant. She knows what she is talking about.

I will do that, I'm just worried I'll end up at the plant for a long time, never getting a fishing job. I have to try though.

The place exists; there's plenty of scams involved in the fishing industry but these guys aren't it. No one's going to go to the trouble to get the licenses they've got just to glean a few social security numbers.

I think I've screwed things up with them. So I'm going to press on and find another job. I really need one this summer.

You never know; they may hire you yet. And you can check here for different types of seasonal jobs. These are mostly in resorts and so on, not quite what you want but it would be a way to earn money for school:

I posted a very professional looking resume on craiglist in southeast alaska and in Kenai. I know I shouldn't do that, but maybe someone will contact me.

Here is my resume I sent in

1. Del Mar College – Didn’t graduate. Finished most basics courses there.
2. Texas A&M University Corpus Christi – Currently Enrolled with a major in Computer Science and Graphic Arts

I can afford a flight to Alaska as soon as I get a job offer. I will bring my own gear.
My favorite weather is cold, wet, and windy. I promise that whoever hires me will not be sorry.

Thanks. Now I'm just trying to figure out what to do next. It would cost me 475 to fly up to Kenai Alaska, but I don't know the area or what the job market is like there for deckhand work. I can't find any names of fish processing companies in the area either. I don't want to waste money going there only to return with less money than I had. It's a risk, but still.

ARE you physically fit?
ARE you mentally fit/?
What have you done, since it's a physical job, that would convince a boat captain to hire you?
You've given NOTHING about yourself other than you "want" the job.

what sports did you kick ass in in High School?
wrestling? all-city?
football?
gymnastics?
are you NOW 200 lbs. and 4% body fat? or 20% body fat and 130 lbs. ????????
