I don't know for sure, but I think a lot of the private property does pre-date the Tongass NF. Other property may have been claimed through the Homestead Act up to 1986. Also the NF did have a system which allowed recreational cabins to be built on the forest with a permit. But there is still a lot of buildable land available around Juneau -(http://www.juneau.org/cddftp/maps/do...ANMAPS_000.pdf)

That's good to know. I was starting to worry that the SE would be a dry hole even by Alaskan standards as far as architecture jobs went.

don't forget to mention disconnected from the road system, except for that formerly glorious Alaska Marine Highway.

So, an island, no, but the term "landlocked" works here.

It would be quite easy building road highway system to Juneau. White Horse, Canada to Skagway road system was finished in year 1979. Juneau should build highway road to White Horse. It will bring jobs to Alaskans. One vote from me bob blockus.

Nome Alaska Homes for Sale

Nome real estate prices are lower than Juneau. What Place would you pick in Nome and why?

114 W 1st Avenue I would buy. Make it into computer office.
