I personally think it's quicker and saves time over the Alcan. But having driven the Cassiar at least 10 times in the last 8 years I am biased. The only time I won't take it is in the middle of winter.

Stiff, if you don't mind my asking, where you headed? We have never taken the Cassier. Seems to me it adds miles to trip if you're headed to the midwest. Am I right?

To Seattle first then to Montana. If you're headed towards the midwest lower 48 I think it would be about the same distance if you took 16/93 from Prince George all the way to Calgary. I might try that route on the way back.

Holy mother of frost heaves! From Beaver Creek to Burwash Landing should be remained Frost HeaveHell!!! Worst I have seen it in years. Tok Cutoff was pretty bad to. In retrospect the Cassiar Highway was a piece of cake. Just be warned the Cassiar from the Alcan to Dease Lake isn't smooth it sure doesn't have the heaves like the Alcan.

Thanks for the update! I am going to add that to my itinerary notes, so I am not surprised.
