Default Gustavus and Hughsnet

Does anyone on here have Hughesnet satellite internet in Gustavus? I would really like to chat with them if I could. I'm looking to know if they are satisfied, and if they would run a speedtest from Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test I'm aware of the latency issues with satlellite, but I'd like to know if they are getting close to their advertised speeds.

Thanks,

Gustavus has wireless Internet DSL. No need for satellite.

Thanks for the info!

I saw that. They call it the GCN, but my understanding was that it was very limited in total coverage area.

I think the speed is not a issue with on line Internet service. I think flat rate price what customers are looking at. Cellular companies are starting to be good at USB Internet service. I used Wild Blue satellite servie at Big Bend National Park in West Texas. I was happy with the monthly price.

They don't charge for uploads. Most providers including in the lower 48 have bandwidth consumption limits (download side).

Most internet limit downloads for

1. To keep the rev from the TV side, If your have unlim download, you cancel the TV Cable/Sat and watch netflix, hulu ...
2. Alaska off the road system is mostly on Sat up/downlinks, Not Fiber optic backbone to the rest ot the world. The is a limit to the amount of (shared) space on the sat up/down links. to the consumption limits control so it far for everyone on the sat.

What does everyone think of all the network cable television channels are starting to stream on the Internet? Bright House Time Warner began this. And another satellite company provider.
