Holy freakin crap man, you gotta get outta there! Not only Texas, but Beaumont, Texas? Someone is f'ing with you, man. That's like... a freaking swamp. I mean, seriously, that is a swamp. That is messed up. Going from Barrow to there would be like one day god came up and said, "Hey man, look, heaven needs room, so I'm demoting you to hell for a bit." Please, please get yourself back to Alaska, it would make ME feel better. I need to remember this thread the next time I'm complaining about not being in Alaska. But it's Texas, so you should be able to save enough to get back to AK pretty soon, right? I mean, Texas is cheap as hell to live in, so that helps. God... they couldn't have at least put you in Minnesota or maybe Washington state or something?

They were looking at assignments in Nome or Fairbanks but this is what came up first. I would have jumped on Fairbanks in an instant but no luck. This place is hot as #&%$*&%$*^%*@ and the people aren't the nicest. I guess my fashion style is too much for Texas (long hair down to my waist, pierced ears. What can I say, I'm a metalhead nurse!) I'm waiting for the guy to come up to me and say, "We don' like yer kind 'round here."

Problem is you are in Beaumont. Dallas is still hot as all heck right now (keep in mind even native Texans are saying how hot it is this summer). But people in Dallas are usually very nice and metalheads are seen often
Having said that I have family in Anchorage that I would love to visit someday.
