I agree 100% with MeganAk: I too would recommend starting with some hospital on, or near, the road system. That new hospital in the Mat/Su sounds like a pretty good place to start. You can drive out 10-15 miles from that hospital, and the surrounding area will feel and look remote...but still place you within easy access to modern amenities...
After a year or so, you can always move on from there. And...via info from the local "grapevine", you will know by then exactly where you will want to move to...
