Denali...night 2 of display. I don't even know what to say. Last night was a very faint green, nothing great. I walked down to the river around midnight as I had been reading articles on how to photography the lights. Five minutes after I get there I saw, along with quite a few others, the most incredible display of green, pink, and purple lights dancing and swirling around like something out of a dream. I know this is just another beautiful part of Alaskan life to many of you ol' sourdoughs but to me, it was the most amazing thing I've ever witnessed.

Cool, I love to sit outside and watch them even at subzero temps... Put on the Arctic Gear and go out and watch the show!

The colder the air on a clear night and you can see the milky way and the lights are out, it is breath taking on some nights!

Oh yeah, Aurora season is coming upon us There's nothing quite like watching nature's light show when everything is quiet and encapsulated in snow. You just have to stand there going "OOOOOOO pretty!"

Yup, I caught it too. It was nice to watch without risking being turned into a human popsicle.

There were nice and bright around Fairbanks and North Pole about 1:00 AM. By mid September they should be quite beautiful by 10:00 PM, specially if you can be on the hills around Fairbanks, away from all the city lights. But when the Auroras are strong (bright, and colorful), on a dark night, even from the city they look great. There are fewer street lights near North Pole, by Chena Lakes, or by Chena Hot Springs Road (good places to watch the Auroras from). Also, over by the Steese and Elliott Highways, or the Richardson near Summit Lake.
