I am moving in the not to distant future to Alaska to begin the next adventure in my life. I will have enough money to survive for a good while but I am really interested in working in a mine or on the north slope while I am there. I am a single male who has experience operating heavy equipment and from what I am able to firgure out so far there should be someone who would be willing to hire me...
What I am looking for input on is does anyone know if there are jobs that would suit me and what kind of money can be made ? Are there many single women in Alaska? Also would love to hear from anyone else who may have some ideas to throw my way. Thanks Kevin |

I hear the ratio of single good looking available women in Alaska ... is little to none, to say the least. The bigger the town, the better the odds, or evenly matched the female vs male ratio.
But northern slope, bushes, etc... it can get pretty hairy and lonely ![]() |

Check this out Alaska QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau
Apparently the data tells us not all hope is lost...but I I wonder why have I always heard that there aren't too many women in Ak? May be they're hiding ![]() |

I'm not saying it's a total sausage fest up there~ just saying... for the kind of work you are inquiring about, versus the area, the majority of the women stay pretty close to the bigger cities. Ask Rance, he's due back to the internet world in like... 8 days!! ![]() |

Yep, Rance works as a drilling engineer for a sister company of the one I work for. 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. I would check with Doyon, Pioneer, construction firms etc.

I went on a fact finding mission and discovered that...
*North Slope Borough is approximately 47.5% women. *The borough with the lowest percentage of women is the Aleutians East Borough, with 33.4%. *The borough with the highest percentage of women is the Haines Borough, with 49.9%. *The following boroughs have a percentage of at least 49%: Juneau, Anchorage, Sitka, and Ketchikan Gateway. *53.5% of females in the Kodiak Island Borough are actually bears. Note that regions in the Unorganized Borough were not included in this data. Source: US Census Bureau, 2005. p.s I made one of those up. But ONLY one! ![]() |
