I guess since people who benefit from manipulating the US population don't have the Cold War bogeymen anymore, and al-Qaida's in shambles, we need a new way to keep people scared. Ooga ooga ooga!

The English language has some wonderfully anthropomorphic collective nouns for the various groups of animals. We are all familiar with a Herd of cows, a Flock of chickens, a School of fish and a Gaggle of geese.

However, less widely known is a Pride of lions, a Murder of crows (as well as their cousins the rooks and ravens), an Exaltation of doves and, presumably because they look so wise, a Parliament of owls.

Now consider a group of Baboons. They are the loudest, most dangerous, most obnoxious, most viciously aggressive and least intelligent of all primates.

And what is the proper collective noun for a group of baboons?

Believe it or not ... a Congress! (Check it out)

That pretty much explains things.

thank you for the links..

You can use Google Earth to find the Missile Defense Base at the Old Fort Greely in Delta Junction. I'm sure you can use the same to locate anything else "odd"

I think they are protesting the fact that CEOs are rewarded regardless of performance.

Look at HP (Hewlett-Packard).

The past CEO that was recently fired worked for ONLY 11 months. You know what he received/will receive?

$7.2 MILLION Severance Pay
$2.4 MILLION Bonus
...and he gets to keep $3.56 MILLION worth of restricted HP shares

Is that Capitalism...it sure sounds like Socialism and this seems to be the trend among major corporations. Downsizing, yet the Executives still receive million/multi-million dollar bonuses, even when they fail or get fired.

Its widely believed that Obama is trying to ruin this country. Exhibit A: oil production. When president bush opened up oil drilling what happened to the price of oil? It DROPPED to around $33 per barrel! With the oil KNOWN to be in the Golf of Mexico, off the coast of California, not to mention ANWAR, we (the US) could be out producing most other OPEC nations in 5 years.

Take brazil for example. Most of the oil and fuel that they use is sugar beet or sugar cane derived... yet they still drill more oil than the United States does! Well what do they do with the massive amounts of crude drilled? THEY EXPORT IT!! imagine that.. we produce massive amounts of oil and export it. Trillions of dollars in just a few years drastically reducing the national debt.

However, if we save our oil reserves until a more crucial time we will be leaps and bounds ahead of most other nations. But in my humble opinion i say we drill more oil and save a percentage of it and ADD TO OUR STRATEGIC RESERVE (instead of releasing it to the world free of charge) and profit from the rest.
(Steps off that soapbox)

Obama was only in politics a very short time before being elected there is no wonder he is screwing up so much. And being from IL as is our "great" president... i see the political class with which he rubs elbows. 4 of our last 5 governors are in jail have been in jail, or awaiting trial for actions taken while in office. Is there any wonder as if he is a puppet? Not in my opinion.

Yes Star... i would love to see if you have seen anything unusual like a camp that can hold a million people. It is so very hard to pin point something this big through all the mountain ranges... I would respect your 2 cents on this matter... I do not hide my head in the sand but I certainly do not get overly excited either about articles written by politically driven agenda either... either side of the coin... Hard work and a job to pay for food and lodging.. that is my first survival step... Il2AK... occupy a job yes indeed.

There are thousands and thousands of planes flying all around the interior all the time, and you mean to tell me not one of those pilots has ever seen such a facility from the air? Mark, care to chime in on this one?

Can't wait until I'm able to get in a plane myself and go flying over the interior. Flying down here is great and everything, but you get familiar with the terrain relatively quickly. Up in Alaska, you could fly for your entire life and not see even close to half of what there is to see up there.

But my overall point is that I don't spend time worrying about crap like this. Most of the time it's baseless nonsense, and even if it isn't in some particular case, no amount of worrying you may do is going to prevent you from being affected by it. Unless you go live in an underground bunker in a radiation suit I guess.
I am a pilot and just flying around the valley and penninsula its hard to tell whats what. You think to yourself oh theres a building and a road and dont think much of it. Unless you were painstakingly mapping things out and taking ariel photos seeing things from the sky does not really give you any profound information. Also there are a few MOA and restricted areas that you need clearance to fly into. Even if you did see something you would have no idea what it was, you can see all of ft rich and almendorf from the air and there is nothing to write home about there.

You would have to know what you are looking for and have inside information for a plane to do you any good, its not like your going to fly over a secret air base in the interiour with a UFO sitting out on the tarmac lol. Or a big sign on the top of the building saying future death camp.

Thats why its dangerous to have such high unemployment, people that cant get jobs have nothing better to do than protest. When the unemployment rate is 50% or better (it is at probably 30% or more now) there will be problems. Right now social programs are keeping the protests peaceful because people have unemployment and other programs, when thoes end people will have nothing to looose.

easy to say....well there are many many who would love to occupy jobs....crunch the pay-scale rate number minus the taxes, health insurance (if they even provide it so or the out of pocket), gas to go to an from this job, etc....in our state a $10 an hour job with a 20 mile commute one way will net you about $4.57 take home pay to live on for heating fuel, food, electric, auto/home insurance etc.....so now is a job like this worth taking??? it is actually costing people money to work...the barter and under the table work for cash force is thriving! so yes demonstrate, fight back for what we had years ago!
