Talking Not from AK but love to read the posts! Please READ

I live in NJ and my absolute dream would be moving my husband and son and self to AK. Im not completely prepared to be out in the wilderness but I would like to live outside Anchorage so Im close enough to take advantage but far enough that I feel Alaskan-y. I have a plan, I am currently in college for my BA in Psychology and I am going to spend the next 2 years saving my pennies, nickels and hundred dollar bills (gonna need them) so that I can apply to graduate school at UAA, they have a program that is a Masters in Psych with a focus in Native People which I am really excited about (cant find programs like that here). That being said, I absolutely love reading the forums, even if it doesnt pertain to me so that when we move we dont stick out quite as much. I think I know more about Alaska than I do NJ. I also like to read you guys making fun of (mostly in good spirit) the dumb questions that "potential alaskans" ask on here. Even I find some of them ridiculous sometimes, And I love when the forums go off on complete tangents...so please feel free to poke fun at me and my naivity. it makes me laugh and I can learn a lot too!

Hahahaha yeah not really in my skill set. I can barely peel an apple, I work much better inside the mind. I really am an addictions psych major. I study counseling and what not. I hope I would be off help up there...

So, you want to be a psychologist, can you explain to me why? (lol) How do you really feel about it?

I wanna be the one in the comfy chair with the notebook asking the uncomfortable prying questions about your mother. So yeah

Based on this forum, I highly doubt it. Every time I come here I expect Randle McMurphy to walk in the room and ask the members if they're up for a game of cards.

Whadya mean? I'm normal! Oh that's right, I imigrated here. :-)

Seriously, I think northern tier, rural states tend to attract people that have certain independent personality traits...and we are easily amused.
