Well this is my pride and joy in the wilderness, well for a few min's of the day anyway! Most outhouses are a shallow hole in the ground dug out and then they drag the outhouse over it... To be moved again! I didn't want to do that, so since I had my backhoe out there, I dug the hole and cribbed it with logs, it is about six feet deep! Note that the ground is good dirt, a real rarity for much of Alaska, most is a muskeg that is wet or mucky most of the time!

Basic Outhouse Plumbing!

Rainbow over the outhouse during construction, means there must be a pot of gold down there right? You can have it.....

Finished outhouse with curtain... The bears come by when I'm not there and put a claw into the curtian when they go by and pull it down... started folding it up and putting it up on the bar, but they still get it..

Winter sunset at the cabin! When it's -50, you use a cutout piece of blue foam so when you sit down it warms instantly! Where else can you have a seat and see the wonders of nature in front of you!

My dad built me a cache for a playhouse. It had a deck with a picture window and a loft. I wish that I still had a picture of it. I had him finish the natural siding with varnish instead of paint and it was beautiful. He built it with leftover lumber from our house.

So where is the snot rubbed...on the seat or on the rear?

You know, if it's -20 and you lick a metal flag pole, you can taste any flavor you can think of.....

On your rear first, the snot will freeze instantly if you place it on the seat first.

I'm still getting a lot of traffic on my blog from this post. Of course, now I have another, new outhouse...
