Plenty of moose encounters. And one black bear encounter in Anchorage.

Default pet

That moose is pissed, look at the hair standing up on its back. The dog will be lucky it is not stomped to death. My dog was kicked in the face by a moose and sent hurling backwards, he was lucky to be alive but had a permanent bruise after that

in Anchorage, several bear have crossed roads in front of me. moose are continually walking around where i'm at, both at work and at both apartments i've been in. at work there is a very tall building (10 floors or so) across from me, i'm surrounded by buildings and concrete, yet moose do walk through. moose walk right by my front door at my apartment. just 2 days ago, one was walking by 10' from me. it didn't see me as i was sitting on my couch and have a micro window by the back door. the closest i've been to a moose was when i was going to my first job here in Anc and as i pulled into the parking lot a moose was walking through. i stopped and it walked right by me in the car. i waited until it left before pulling into a space. the buses here will stop for a moose on the side of the road as the large shape ALWAYS makes them want to cross the road in front of them, no matter male or female, young or old. the closest i've been to a bear was in Skagway. i spent the summer in my pop up and one day after coming back from the store, my 5 yr old son was still in the car while i unloaded some groceries (best time to go is barge day) on the picnic table, and a black bear about 3 yrs old was walking by. i heard my son and looked up to see it go by. since it seemed passive, my first instinct was to grab a camera for my facebook family & friends, but it was gone too fast to get it out. of course i would have kept my distance, no sense in pissing it off, or making it uncomfortable/scaring/etc, as some seem to do, that's what long lenses are for. i have known people that have been in their car and been chased by a moose. one seemed to not like their car and kept waiting for them, to attack their car.
