Well what was normal a century ago has changed today! Half my ancestors came to America in the late 1700's and after that,they came through legal immigration, many of the rest of them were here long before that, mostly Cherokee.
But for a country to exist, it needs defined boarders and limit access.
Try to cross our Southern Boarder, you get caught and you get a lunch and a bus ride back South. You cross Mexico's Southern boarder, and you can get shot or prison time and if your lucky, sent home if you survive your prison term.
In the meantime the illegals are taxing our social systems to extinction.
