An All-American distance runner who spent more than two days in freezing winter temperatures without winter gear has had his legs amputated just above the ankles.Marko Cheseto, 28, is one of several Kenyan runners who competed for the University of Alaska Anchorage in cross-country and track. Most likely we don't know or will ever know what happened. I sincerely hope that he finds a way through his current troubles and what ever brought him to this point.

I am just sorry it happened. This is one of the first local stories I have really followed, and I was so happy when he was found alive, because I was sure that was not going to happen.

I don't mean to be harsh or rude in any manner and I am not trying to minimize it in any way either; but as sad as it is; he will have his feet back on in no time; they've made so many amazing advances in prostheics. (sp)?
