Ah well, in that case you would probably like Florance better then Fairbanks.

Curious as to why you think that.

Back to the OP, I lived in CO for a winter in Breckenridge. I was there working as an Atomic ski rep. The only comparison I can think of is the mountains. I honestly can't think of any other thing that is similar. I do have some very fond memories from there though, the people, mountains, heap 'n heaps of snow.

Hi,
I don't live too too far away from Austin and to me, it seems filled with a lot of "wannabee" hippies and has a more liberal mindset than conservative.

A friend of mine from out of state noted the same thing about some of the Austin artist's scene. Some of them are just trying to hard.

I suppose this may be a small snapshot of the Austin scene but, I can only compare that snapshot to what I experienced living in Chicago, near 'boys-town' and that is that when a small town closet 'guy' gets to the open freedom of 'boys-town' and he doesn't have to hide in any closets that he sort of looses his mind a little and goes a bit bonkers in being 'open' and may be somewhat extreme. Yet, when all the dust is settled and a person is mature in who they are, (be it an Austin artist or Austin liberal or Chicago Boystown resident,) then they do not need to be so extreme and "out there" like a teenager wearing their facial body piercings. Kind of like a college town where kids are just free from their parents. Sigh, yawn, la di da to me.

Just my take, they try to hard.
Jen
p.s. besides, are the real renegade musicians out in the honky tonks and backroads roadhouses and they only come in to Austin to record because even they aren't 'Austin!?'

Ah I see. We have the real thing, not that there's anything wrong with that.
