Yes, public sector workers in Alaska, not just Fairbanks, take a big slice of the pie. By the time you add the number of Federal, State, and local government workers, it probably is somewhere around 48% of the total workforce.

although I am very hesitant about my upcoming move to Alaska I do think it has a lot to do with the pure beauty and natural living you can get.. I have not met one person to say they didn't love Alaska and wont go back.. It leads me to believe not only the country but the people whom reside there make Alaska one of the best places to live.... i will know soon... but I dont think you have to worry about me being the next permanent citizen yet.

In reality a lot of people either hate or love Alaska. Most people know if they want to stay or to leave a winter of two after, or just after struggling to make a living. The cost of living is high in the interior, and very high in remote areas of Alaska.
