im watching Planet Earth and in the "tundra" of Eastern Russia lives the Amur Leopard. curious as to why this animal is not found in Interior Alaska or above the Arctic Circle? are there any leopard type animals?

Not that I have heard of in any of the northern most villages.

I've spent many years talking with these hunters that live up here.

Only cat in Alaska is the lynx.

Alaskan Wildlife Includes Only One Type of Cat..

I'm sure that eons ago saber tooth roamed the area with Mastodon.

I'm no expert.. I guess google has ALL the answers after you sort through them all.

They have had a few sighting of Mountain Lions on the kenai peninsula (don't know how creditable though), and Mountain Lions in SE Alaska there have been quite a few as BC an Vancouver Island has a lot of them.

Certainly no lynx. Traditionally no mountain lions either, but there are confirmed sightings in the Yukon. Thought I saw one cross the road outside of Delta, but it was twilight so who knows.

There should be a lot of lynx this year, there is a high rabbit population. Lots of foxes running around Bethel.
