I've been to both Klawock and Craig. They are sort of right next to each other, Klawock being the "native" town. You could live in one and work in the other. Personally I would prefer Craig. They are both cute in their own way. Lots of natural beauty and wildlife on POW. The weather is very similar to Seattle, just a little colder and a wetter. The nearest "real" city is Ketchikan, home to what would have been the "bridge to nowhere" (nowhere is apparently defined as the airport). You can get to KTN by plane or ferry from Klawock/Craig. It's rural Alaska, there's no malls or big city diversions. But if you like the outdoors, can handle the cold rain, its just fine.

There is housing for the police officers but all the other city employees I know provide their own.
