Default canadian hoping to immigrate...

Hi guys.

I am a long time lurker first time poster.

I am a Canadian living in Calgary Alberta (formerly from Winnipeg Manitoba) and my wife and I have been wanting to move to Alaska for some time now. We would rather raise our future kids in the great outdoors instead of in the middle of the concrete jungles filled with people just trying to make more and more money.

Has anyone here successfully immigrated from Canada to the US (directly to Alaska)?

I have a diploma from a technical college and have 10 years of IT experience and my wife has a bachelor of arts and is a photographer.

We are outdoors people by nature and don't mind the cold weather at all (the Canadian prairies can get bitterly cold). We also have a house that we would sell so we would be bringing a considerable amount of equity with us to purchase our own place.

Does anyone know what the best way to immigrate would be? Should I look for a company looking for IT staff to sponsor us or should I try and get a green card?

Any help?

Well I'm not at all up to date...but nore than likely you'd have to become a citizen? A green card may help get the ball rolling in your favor. And having a company sponser your coming can't hurt if you can find the work. If you do find any first hand info please share here or with me by PM. I am engaged to a lady from Sweden and need to start looking into this stuff asap myself!

Default TN Nafta Work Visa

TN Visas are temporary work visas available only to citizens of Mexico and Canada. Under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), a citizen of a NAFTA country may work in a professional occupation in another NAFTA country, as long as the applicant meets certain requirements.

To determine whether or not you meet those requirements you will need to obtain the "TN NAFTA Work Visa Information and Application Guide" from TN Nafta Work Visa for $40 (USD).
