A few from last night. I didn't have a chance to focus in my lens during the day before hand so had to try to focus in last night, which is pretty difficult when there is nothing lit up to focus on.

Big dipper.

Thanks. I'm finally getting a handle on this camera, a Nikkon D200. It has no automatic settings at all so I am finally remember which settings to set for which situations.

I bought a Nikon D5000 for my 2011 trip--which was my first visit to Fairbanks--and I was fortunate enough to be there during a solar event (CME 3/7, spectacular skies 3/9 & 10). I remember thinking I could be shelling out for a camera and wind up not seeing the lights at all, but the timing was superb and boy was I glad I had the Nikon with me. When you are only there for 1-2 weeks at a time, you don't want to miss a thing!

Interesting, no auto settings at all. Remembering what to set when can be tricky, for sure. I look forward to more of your photos during the 2014-15 season!

Yea, I mostly shoot in aperture mode but with the auroras I have to shoot in full manual.

1stimerstar: Thank you. No, I would not upload it anywhere. it is for my personal enjoyment on my home desktop. It will be a beautiful change from all the grandbabies I usually have as wall paper. Thank you again.
