With the sunset and light flakes falling, I couldn't resist.

I really like the first one! That image has a lot of character, and it just invites manipulation of the color to give different effects. I see by the EXIF data that you used Photoshop, but of course I can't tell if you set the colors as they are, or if that is how it "came out of the camera". (Given the amount of blue and the levels of the snow, I suspect it is pretty close to what the camera produced.)

If you want to try something fun with editing... Use curves and give it an S-curve to increase contrast while making the snow in the foreground whiter. Then reduce the amount of blue color (either desaturate it or adjust the hue) using that large tree trunk just to the right of center as a point of reference. That will leave a lot of cyan in the snow on the tree in the center. Desaturate cyan to make all of that snow turn white.

At that point you can adjust contrast and brightness to please. I kind of liked it with higher contrast to make all the trees darker, which is almost the same effect that all of that blue in the posted image has. But that image is really fascinating and there must be an infinite number of different ways that it can be adjusted and be a "head turner".

Great pics, Nephler! I tried to snag some pics of that sky, too - but couldn't get a good pic through the window.....and I wasn't dressed to run outside.
It was beautiful!

Oops, I lied. Once I loaded up my pics, they did turn out! I'll take the limited sunlight during the day if we get to see colors like this as a reward The second pic is from an overcast day last week when me and the princess took a walk.

Thanks Floyd. Yes, the photo is just about left alone with no retouching. I'll play around with the tools you mentioned. I have one problem though, I'm red/green color blind and that make it hard for me to adjust colors.

Credit to ADN.......

A full moon sets over the Talkeetna Mountains this morning. According to EarthSky.org, the moon is at its closest point to the Earth since March of 1993 and appears 30 percent brighter and 14 percent larger.

It snowed this morning and that cleared out and now it's sunny out and clear. Those were with my 3 year old fuji, not as clear as the 40D, but I'm not lugging that around on the bike.
