Ed & Cori....

Ed....correction, its f/1.8, big difference

At f/1.8 she's big in diameter, 82mm filter size so she's nearly the same size as Bigma on the front..

You'd be surprised how much you'd use it when you see what 94 degrees of view looks like shooting toward the mountains at your favorite place

Sigma 20mm f/1.8 - Lenses

Don't tell Rance but I shot a 100 pictures with it today and its a damn fun lens.

I do have a Nikon 20mm...but this critter is f/1.8 rather than f/2.8 and I certainly like the difference

Think I better order one.

Cori....what are you going to use the tele-converter on...?

Be sure to check for compatibility issues and never buy a 2x....been there done that, way too much light-loss.

I rented all three Nikon's one weekend to run some tests... the 1.4 & 1.7 work great but I 86'd the original idea of only having a 2x....so I bought those two.

Good ones that work ain't cheap vs. the cheapies....the Nikon's are 350/400 and I'm sure the Canon ones are in that same price range..

And...Cori, I have a new Canon 50D I've been playing with for a couple weeks also..

What do you think of the 50D thus far, Captain?

As far as teleconverter, I got one in a package deal a few years back - a cheap one and it is horrible. Canon has one - it's the 1.4 that I am eying for around $280-300, I believe...that would probably suit. It would go on the 100-400mm.

Cori.....I like the 50D. Its lighting fast, right up there close to the Nikon D300...6.5 FPS where the Nikon D300 is a couple frames quicker. The focus is lightening quick also...very nice large LCD

I'm still working my way through the Owner Manual and setting options....

It was supplied with only the new 70-300 IS lens so that somewhat limits what I can do with it.

If you can live without first-generation HD video clips (5DMkII) its a great next-step from where you're at now. Price wise, of coarse they don't compare, you can buy a pair of these for what a 5D MkII costs, right ?

But....I know you want the next one up from the 5DMkII....spendy critter.

The 50D would be the realistic step up from the Rebel...and would be the realistic way to go. That being said...ahem. Ideally, the MkII generations are something I cannot wait to get my hands on.

Quit that Barkley! The Captain is already doing enough damage! 7 grand for a lens! I'd have to win a lottery first!
I got a few sheep pitures on the drive home yesterday with Bigma. I'll kick a few out after breakfast.
