I personally don't advocate asking for outside help until all internal efforts have been exhausted, and we're not at that point yet.
I read in the ADN that they're actually having a shovel shortage over there. May be the first time I've heard of such a thing- but these are the things we choose to face by living off the road system!

Well, they were calling stores in Anchorage and Fairbanks and couldn't find many anywhere in the state! So maybe being on the road system wouldn't help anyways. They're having to order some up from Seattle, I believe.

Juneau indeed.. And thank s for the nice comments people.

I was there about 3 years back... Amazing summer while working on the cruise ships there... have vowed to head back some point in the near future for a vacation and spend some more time getting to see the place and documents my travels.

Fond fond memories of Alaska.

This NJ woman is just loving this thread. I check back here every few days to see what's new. What a beautiful place you live in.

When I was a kid I wanted to go to Alaska. Never got there. Most people from here just take those cruises to see the glaciers if they go to Alaska, but I love these pics of the towns with the mountains around them, snow or no snow.

My daughter will be flying over Alaska today on her way home from China (she's been at school there). Wave if you see her. Hehehe.

Couldn't help but notice this question...that's a weather radar. I understand there's a weather service office in Valdez correct??

It's a Nexrad radar, looks at water vapor in clouds.

Nothing in the air today...
